The Unimog: a living legend.
Born in the challenging times following World War II, the robust Mercedes-Benz Unimog endures as one of the few living automotive legends still in production. Over the decades, the Unimog has established itself globally as a versatile and utilitarian vehicle, with nearly 380,000 units produced to date. Its fundamental concept remains unchanged: four equally sized wheels, exceptional off-road mobility thanks to its portal axles, all-wheel drive, and front and rear differential locks. Its compact dimensions and ability to power a variety of attached and mounted tools remain core elements. Named "Universal-Motor-Gerät (tool)" in short, Unimog, this production vehicle proudly bears the Mercedes star since 1951, thus perpetuating its legendary heritage.
A greener future
Unveiled during the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Unimog in June 2011, the spectacular design concept artfully merges the past and future of the Unimog in a forward-thinking way. This bold concept draws inspiration from the unique DNA of the Unimog and its distinctive features, while incorporating visionary elements. The design takes inspiration from an unusual amphibian, the poison dart frog, which shares with the Unimog an exceptional mobility on both land and water. The vibrant green color establishes a link between the past and the future, reminiscent of the original color of the very first Unimog as well as subsequent generations. This concept thus embodies the ongoing evolution of the Unimog while paying homage to its legendary heritage.
