Training of Technicians in Mauritania
Promoting the development of local talent is a strong commitment undertaken by Tractafric Equipment in partnership with Kinross, a mining company, at the Tasiast site in Mauritania. The goal is to achieve 80% national workforce participation by 2025. This ambitious objective is being pursued through a comprehensive plan to recruit and train 45 young Mauritanian technicians.
Led by the HR and Training teams in Casa (Casablanca), in collaboration with the Tasiast project team, this plan has recently achieved a significant milestone with the certification of twelve technicians. Following a two-stage training process, which includes initial training at the Casablanca Training Center followed by on-site coaching, the trainees have completed the first stage of their training journey. Three of them have successfully passed the first level of the Foundational program and will now move on to the second level, while nine others have completed the Foundational curriculum and are now progressing to the Advanced curriculum. Additionally, a trainer has been certified, enabling them to contribute to the training of future trainees.
The diploma award ceremony provided an opportunity for the newly certified employees to express their gratitude for the development program, their confidence in the group to continue their growth, and their pride in being part of Tractafric and Optorg.
Having successfully completed this initial stage, the program will now continue with the ongoing development of current participants, as well as the integration of new trainees, paving the way for a cycle of continuous development. This serves as an inspiring best practice in terms of knowledge transfer.
