Overview

The Most Environmentally Friendly Excavators in the Industry

CAT® dragline excavators offer the lowest material removal cost per ton, consume less energy, and emit fewer greenhouse gases than other methods of excavation, making them the most productive and environmentally friendly excavators in the industry. The CAT® 8200 offers all the innovative technologies of our flagship model, the 8750, but in a medium size. In addition to a reduced investment compared to larger excavators, the unique combination of technology, size, and long lifespan of the 8200 ensures the low total cost of ownership you need for a good return on investment. And like all Cat dragline excavators, the 8200 is supported by a strong team with a century of experience, institutional knowledge, and unmatched expertise.

Security

8200 - Security

Front/back entrance/exit door with stepless floor to avoid tripping hazards, especially in emergency cases where a quick exit from the cabin is necessary. Superior visibility thanks to a clear line of sight between the operator and the arrow point, as well as maximum awareness of the operator's situation through an external camera system with direct power supply to the monitors suspended in the cabin. Safe and convenient access with non-slip materials on the roof and shoe passage surfaces to prevent falls, and stairs, platforms, and serrated grating walkways that facilitate safe movement around the machine. Increased operator training safety with an additional emergency stop button within reach of the trainer's seat. Enhanced electrical safety system, with a double-chain wired emergency stop system with safety relays; all operator interface controls are at 24 volts; Arc Flash evaluation available; single point of motion deactivation for mechanical machine maintenance; key lock to prevent access to high voltage connection areas; and installation of warning panels on stored energy.

Configured for each site

Application engineers who work in collaboration with mines, taking into account factors such as the digging environment, mine lifespan, mine plan, and annual production goals, in order to determine the most suitable configuration for each client's mining site. Engineers who analyze mining environments and apply the results to recommendations for new dragline excavators as well as upgrade recommendations for existing dragline excavator fleets.

Driver's cabin

8200 - Driver's cabin

Ultra-modern driving cabin, the result of several years of collaboration between Caterpillar, mining companies, and operators. Offers top-notch visibility thanks to an excellent line of sight complemented by optimally mounted cameras and display screens. Available with an adjustable ergonomic seat. Reduces cognitive fatigue and improves productivity through intuitive and visually pleasing display screens. Effortless operation and improved response of controls thanks to new Hall effect joysticks (patent pending), custom-designed ergonomic handles, and spring tension for "finger touch control"."

Ease of maintenance

Improvement of access to services through gateways crossing the machine and easy access to the base via manholes located inside and outside the path of the roller circle; access to the pivoting chassis, which improves the ability to move from one section to another in all compartments; raised platforms for maintenance of swing arms, brakes, blowers, and electrical terminations; important walkways/work areas around the machines and electrical equipment mounted on the bridge; and easy access to lifting and dragging drums via stairs, walkways, and platforms. Overhead cranes that cover most of the important components. Easily accessible maintenance point for lubricant maintenance. Sturdy supports for outdoor lighting allow for changing projectors from walkways and platforms, and internal lighting in the engine room is accessible from boxes with quick-opening hatches located on the top of the roof.

Durability

Boom and Tri-Structures made using shock-resistant, high-strength steel with selected full penetration welds, profiled and ground type. Structural welds undergo visual inspection, with critical welds also being inspected by magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing, or X-ray testing. Large ovens are used to relieve stress in critical welds. Radial design base frame to optimize load and access, integral forged center pin, stress-free "T-section" track and thick bottom plate with abrasion-resistant steel wear plates and non-slip pads. Machined crowned rollers with large diameter, with a third rail that eliminates bridged rollers, allowing for the addition of extra rollers to significantly extend the lifespan. AC components are housed in robust mining-grade cabinets, with reliability features including major controls and power electrical circuits derived from the transportation sector, allowing for high temperatures, shock and vibration resistance, and long component availability; a liquid-cooled IP 54 enclosure, transferring heat out of the machine; cabinets allowing for optimized cable routing; and internally organized cables for efficient access to internal components."""

Technology

8200 - Technology

Equipped to use Cat MineStar Health, which provides critical data on the condition and operation of machines based on events, comprehensive equipment and asset health monitoring capabilities, as well as a wide range of diagnostic, analysis, and reporting tools. Can use MineStar Terrain, which allows for high-precision management of dragline operations through the use of guidance technology, increasing productivity and providing real-time feedback to improve efficiency. The AccessDirect electrical interface system, which reduces repair times and daily maintenance efforts and improves local and remote diagnostic capabilities by facilitating remote access to the onboard computer, allowing for monitoring, adjustment, reset, and modification of electrical settings, and enabling high-speed data transfer.

Improvement of performance and reliability

8200 - Improvement of performance and reliability

Complete upgrade of the mechanical components of existing dragline excavators, with expertise in finite element analysis to ensure that the replacement parts are more efficient than the original components. Mechanical improvements include significant repairs/replacements of the dragline structure to improve reliability and productivity; modifications to the boom to optimize the rated suspended load (RSL), reach, digging depth, and dumping height; and redesigned components to enhance performance. Electrical upgrade solutions that allow the electrical system to work in harmony with the onboard mechanical systems, enabling owners of older dragline excavators to benefit from the advantages of the latest technology. Electrical improvements include upgrading drive systems to enhance performance (AC and DC machines); upgrading programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) to improve safety and availability; production monitoring system to optimize productivity; and onboard troubleshooting and remote diagnostics to improve reliability.
